The United States does not have one horizontal frame the way the EU does. Obligations arrive by sector:

• Health data is governed by HIPAA wherever protected health information enters a workflow.
• Pharma operates under FDA regulation, including the electronic records and signatures rule at 21 CFR Part 11, which is precisely about whether a record can be trusted.
• Privacy is regulated state by state, led by comprehensive state privacy laws, so the answer to which privacy law applies depends on where your customers are.

The consequence for AI: what a US buyer must prove depends on their sector, but in every regulated sector the proof requirement exists. Work that gets checked needs a record of how it was done.
