Glass-box AI
Glass-box AI is artificial intelligence whose outputs can be inspected from the outside: every claim traces back to the source it came from, and every step, who asked, what was retrieved, what was answered, what a human changed, is recorded and reviewable.
Why the distinction matters
It is the opposite of black-box AI, where an answer appears and its origin cannot be established. In a regulated function the difference is decisive: a reviewer, an auditor, or a regulator can open a glass-box output and see exactly how it was made, years later. When the system cannot ground a claim in the approved sources, it says so instead of guessing, and that too is on the record.
